Tyre Sampson is a 14-year-old boy who fell to his death at the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower in ICON Park in the centre of Orlando’s tourist district on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

The Orange County Sheriff,  John Mina, said the Missouri teen boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the ICON Part website, the amusement park’s ride is taller than the Statue of Liberty and stands 430-feet (131-meters) tall. The ride in the park holds thirty passengers and freely falls at more than 75 mph (120 kph).

The park has not been in service for a long time since it was just opened to the public last year.

The Sheriff identified the teen as Tyre Sampson on Friday, March 25, 2022. Tyre Sampson was visiting central Florida from the St. Louis area with a friend’s family.

According to the Sheriff, detectives will investigate the death to find out whether it was intentional or accidental.
