Linderbaum was born on April 7, 2000, in Solon, Iowa, and is of German descent. Linderbaum later attended Solon High School, where he played offensive and defensive line. Linderbaum took part in the 2018 US Army All-American Game. Linderbaum has committed to play college football for the University of Iowa.
Linderbaum began his career as a defensive lineman at Iowa before transferring to the center prior to the 2019 season. That season, Linderbaum started all 13 games. In 2020, Linderbaum returned as the starter and was named an All-American as well as a Rimington Trophy finalist. In 2021, Linderbaum was named Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year, winning the Rimington Trophy and being named a unanimous All-American.
