Two suspects have been taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service in connection with the murder and robbery of a mobile money vendor in Walewale, in the North East Region.
According to a police statement, on February 12, 2024, the two persons, including the mobile money vendor, were shot and killed by Zakaria Yamusa, also known as Vandam, and Fatao Issah. Seven (7) additional people were also injured in the attack.
The suspects are being held, the police continued, and they will appear in court to face charges.
A full police investigation has been promised to the families of the two deceased victims as well as to every injured person, with the exception of one who has not yet been contacted, by Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
According to the police, a group of officers was led by the North-East Regional Police Commander to visit the hospitalized injured and offer condolences to the families of the departed.
The police claim that an intelligence operation is still in progress to apprehend the remaining offenders.
