Tragedy struck Tema Manhean in the Greater Accra Region as two individuals lost their lives in a clash between local youth and navy personnel.
The incident took place on the evening of Friday, April 12, 2024, during this year’s Kplejoo festival.
The youth had organized a street procession as part of the festival, but things took a turn for the worse when they reached the street in front of the Eastern Naval Command. A disagreement between the youth and the naval ratings on duty led to a confrontation. Reports indicate that a vehicle belonging to the Navy was damaged by some individuals in the crowd, escalating the situation.
The clash resulted in the tragic loss of two lives from gunshot wounds. The deceased have been taken to the Tema General Hospital Mortuary, while two others who were injured are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
