Twitter to begin charging new users $1 a year to access key features

For new users in New Zealand and the Philippines, X, formerly known as Twitter, is introducing a $1 yearly subscription to access fundamental functions including writing tweets, commenting to others, and liking or saving content.

The action, which aims to reduce spam and bot activity, was verified by X, which highlighted that the price is intended to help address these problems rather than generate income.

Existing customers won’t be impacted by the modification, and it’s unclear whether or when the payment plan will be made available in other nations.

The social media network, which has previously provided its services for free since its founding as Twitter in 2006, has undergone a considerable change as a result of this development.

Even if there is a little price, charging for necessary services is intended to improve platform security and lessen the influence of bots.

Although it won’t entirely stop bot activity, manipulation will become much more difficult.
