
Tributes have been pouring in for NFL legend John Madden on Twitter since his demise Tuesday, December 28, 2021. He passed away at the age of 85.
John Madden ‘unexpectedly’ passed away Tuesday evening, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced in a press statement.
The statement said: “Nobody loved football more than Coach. He was football. He was an incredible sounding board to me and so many others.”
“There will never be another John Madden, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he did to make football and the NFL what it is today,” the statement added.
Right after his demise was announced, football lovers on Twitter flooded the 280-character platform with heart-touching messages and heavy tributes.
Founder of My Sports Update, Ari Meirov tweeted: “There aren’t enough words to describe the impact John Madden had to the NFL product. He was a legend as a coach. He was a legend as a broadcaster. And he changed the video game world forever. Hard pressed to find someone more influential to their sport than John Madden. RIP.”
