An unidentified assailant shot and killed a 21-year-old man on his farm in Abrewankor, an Oti Region neighborhood of the Nkwanta South Municipality.
On Saturday, January 27, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Kwabena Boame, the dead, was shot while gathering cassava on his property near Odomi.
Since then, the police have placed the body in the Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital morgue while they conduct more inquiries to identify and apprehend the offender.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Bright K. Lenwah, shared the sad news with the Ghana News Agency, expressing concern over the impact on the Municipality’s reputation.
The situation is concerning, as villagers suspect it is linked to a recent ethnic dispute between the Akyode, Adele, and Challas tribes in the Nkwanta South Municipality. The continued violence is generating distress, and the local population is concerned about the possible harmful implications.
Mr. Lenwah highlights the importance of rapid action to address the situation and restore calm, thereby averting additional harm to the Municipality’s image and well-being.
