Troy Aikman, a former NFL quarterback and a legendary figure in the game, was born in West Covina, California, and started playing football at Henryetta High School in Oklahoma. The All-State honoree continued playing the sport at the University of Oklahoma. Despite a shaky beginning, he gained notoriety after switching to UCLA in 1986. He made history as UCLA’s second-leading passer and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
The quarterback led the Cowboys to their first Super Bowl participation in 13 years, set career highs in completions (302), passing yards (3,445), and touchdown passes (23), won 13 games during the regular season, and was named the MVP of Super Bowl XXVII.

Charlyn and Kenneth Aikman are Troy Aikman’s parents. Troy Aikman’s father, Kenneth Aikman, worked as a farmer to provide for his family and raise his kids.
On November 30, 1938, Kenneth was born, and his family had been farmers for many generations. His early years were spent in Iowa, specifically the Lincoln Township in the state. He is the son of the late Myron Aikman and Irene Petersen, both of whom tragically passed away while he was still a youngster.
Troy’s mother Charlyn Marie Bailey Aikman, who passed away before her, worked as a social editor.
At the age of 80, Charlyn passed away peacefully at her home in Lewisville, Texas, on November 9, 2022. Charlyn places a high priority on maintaining strong ties with her close friends and family.
