News reaching us states that a tragic incident has occurred in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal of the Ashanti Region.
Per reports, a 35-year-old trotro driver, identified as Akwasi, allegedly poisoned his 25-year-old fiancée, Martha, to death during her visit to his end last weekend.
The young lady, a seamstress by profession, reportedly passed away as a result of the poisoning. The driver was also discovered in his room, foaming at the mouth, in an apparent suicide attempt and was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
According to reports, the driver had been battling with depression, as his fiancée was not treating him well and had threatened to end their relationship.
After Martha’s visit, the driver called his mate and informed him of the lady’s visit after several disagreements. He then handed Martha the phone and told her to speak with his mate.
Martha informed them that she would not be spending the night with him because she had to return home. Angrily, however, the driver then grabbed her phone and prevented her from leaving.
Subsequently, Martha’s family was informed that the house she visited had burned down. But when they arrived, they discovered that it was a false alarm and realized that their daughter had died.
It is suspected that the driver poisoned a drink he gave to Martha and then drank it as well. The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and the driver will be charged with murder if found culpable.
