Mark Sievers thought he had the perfect plan to get rid of his wife, Dr. Teresa Sievers, without getting his hands dirty. Little did he know, his childhood friend Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. had other ideas. The two men orchestrated the murder together, with Sievers offering Wright $100,000 to carry out the heinous act.
However, Wright took matters into his own hands and enlisted the help of another friend, Jimmy Ray Rodgers, to assist in the murder. The trio ambushed Teresa at her home and brutally bludgeoned her to death with a hammer. Her body was found the next day, and both men were arrested in Missouri shortly after.
Rodgers was later convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Despite filing appeals, his conviction was upheld, and he remains behind bars at the South Bay Correctional Facility in Florida. As for Wright, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 25-year sentence, with credit for time served. He expressed remorse for his actions and is currently incarcerated at the Walton Correctional Institution in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Sievers, on the other hand, was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. He remains on death row at the Union Correctional Institution in Florida. It’s a tragic tale of betrayal, greed, and loss that will be featured on an upcoming NBC Dateline true crime episode, shedding light on the betrayal that led to Teresa Sievers’ untimely death.
