A youngster was killed after her father accidentally turned over her in their SUV as they were on their way to buy groceries.
Just before 5.30 p.m. on Friday, January 12, Rishwika Salibindla, age 1, passed away after her father, Joseph Reddy Salibindla, accidentally backed into her outside the front of his Edna Avenue, Toongabbie, residence in Sydney’s northwest.
Unaware that his daughter had trailed him out the door, Mr. Salibindla had gotten into his Audi SUV to pick up groceries from his neighborhood store.
The girl was covered in blood as he got out of the car after reversing over her without realizing she was behind it.
Following the horrifying incident, Mr. Salibindla’s wife Sravanthi Thirumalareddy and their two sons who were inside the family home at the time of the tragedy hurried outside.
Up until the arrival of six NSW Ambulance Service ambulance personnel, Mr. Salibindla made an effort to keep Rishwika alive. The girl’s wounds eventually claimed her life.
After being transported to the Parramatta police station for interrogation, the distressed father of three spent Friday night helping the authorities with their investigations.
Before being detained by police, the 41-year-old was spotted crying in the arms of a relative. There are no charges pending. Mrs. Thirumalareddy spent hours studying the crime scene as her mother, distraught, was consoled by relatives and neighbors.
Joseph Salibindla, Rishwika’s uncle, stated that he and his family would support Mrs. Thirumalareddy in accepting the death of her daughter.
While police continue to look into the event, a crime scene was set up on the premises. We’ll write out a report for the coroner.
