Tory Lanez has formally checked into North Kern State Prison, located in Delano, California, where he will likely spend a 10-year term.
With several violent episodes, including multiple killings, taking place there this year, the institution is anything but a nice place to be.
Around 4,000 prisoners reside in North Kern State Prison, which has lately acquired notoriety because of a horrific crime that took place there.
For allegedly killing his cellmate, Juan Villanueva, 53, back in February, convicted serial murderer Ramon Escobar was charged with first-degree murder. Villanueva was behind bars for aggravated child sexual assault.
On July 4, Ricardo Saldivar, 25, was discovered dead in his cell, which is another worrying episode.
His death is now being investigated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Violence involving convicts and correctional personnel has also been seen at the institution.
A former prisoner and convicted sex offender was recently found guilty of assaulting two employees in connection with an event that occurred in 2020.
Although there is an electric fence surrounding the facility’s perimeter, a few prisoners have escaped throughout the years.
Tory Lanez will have the possibility to work in specialized and unskilled labor positions within the jail that pay between $0.08 and $0.30 an hour, giving him the chance to keep busy and stay out of trouble while serving his term.
