Torben Ulrich children: Meet Lars Ulrich
Lars Ulrich is the only son of Danish tennis player Torben Ulrich. Danish musician Lars Ulrich was born on December 26, 1963, and is most known for being the drummer and co-founder of the American heavy metal band Metallica.
He played tennis as a child and traveled to Los Angeles at the age of 16 to begin professional training. He is the grandson of tennis players Einer Ulrich and Torben Ulrich, respectively. But Ulrich started playing the drums instead of tennis.
Ulrich met James Hetfield after placing an ad in The Recycler, and the two went on to become Metallica. Ulrich and Hetfield are the only surviving original members of the band, and together they have written nearly all of the songs that the band has released.
