He had a son named Brian Bonekemper.

Five nieces and nephews, and 10 great-nieces and nephews also survive him.

Tom graduated from North Penn High School in 1960 and went on to Kutztown University and the Hahnemann School of Medicine. He finished his internship at Hahnemann and his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem.

From 1972 until 1976, he worked on the staff of Quakertown and Grand View Hospitals, as well as in private practice in the Upper Perkiomen Valley. From 1976 to 1979, he was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Hahnemann.

His willingness to assist veterans led him to become the Chief Medical Officer of the VA Outpatient Clinic in Allentown, where he worked for 20 years before retiring in 1999 due to health difficulties.
