The hard work of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) employees has been acknowledged by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
He said that the important things they accomplished during his administration were due to their commitment to saving the economy.
In his reflection on their cooperative journey, Mr. Ofori-Atta commended the MoF team for their ability to persevere through difficult times, overcome obstacles, and help the Republic achieve significant wins.
He emphasized how crucial a role they played in the creation and execution of seven Budget Statements that changed the course of the economy.
Ofori-Atta expressed her sincere gratitude in a letter dated Wednesday, February 14, for the team’s steadfast dedication and upbeat spirit, particularly amid periods of economic instability.
The former minister underlined how their group’s activities were directed by values like value for money and economic responsibility.
Ofori-Atta thanked the MOF team as a whole for all of the accomplishments made between January 27, 2017, and February 14, 2024.
Among the noteworthy achievements were the introduction of stimulus packages, the improvement of commitment controls, the restructuring of the financial industry, and the formation of historic alliances with several organizations.
Even though President Akufo-Addo fired him on Wednesday, February 14, Ofori-Atta emphasized the economy’s nearly fourfold growth and the optimistic prediction that it will surpass GH¢1 trillion this year.
“Together, we have weathered storms, surmounted challenges, and won key battles for the Republic. Reflecting on our journey, I am reminded of the work we have together done through the seven (7) Budget Statements we developed and implemented over the period.”
“The three (3) Budgets before 2020 sowed the seeds, nurtured a remarkable rebound of growth and greatly stabilized the macro-economic turbulence we faced. This put the economy on a positive trajectory for a proper take-off. Indeed, your commitment and positive energy while we pursued the principles of irreversibility, fiscal responsibility and value for money were truly admirable.”
“We reminded ourselves that we had only two fishes and five loaves for the monumental task ahead while ensuring a deliberateness of the preferential options for the poor and promoting private sector productivity.”
