The deal ends Roman Abramovich’s 19-year ownership of Chelsea, during which the club won 21 trophies, including five Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues; a consortium led by Todd Boehly has committed £4.25 billion to purchase the club, a record for a sports team.

The new owners stated that they are committed to investing in key areas that will extend and enhance Chelsea’s competitiveness, such as the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, additional investment in the academy, the women’s team, and Kingsmeadow stadium, and that they will continue the important work of the Chelsea Foundation.
