Tobi Amusan was born on April 23 1997, in Ijebu, Ode, Nigeria as Oluwatobiloba Ayomide Amusan. Tobi is a track and field athlete who competes in both 100 meters hurdle and sprint. Her running career began when the competed and won a 100m sprint inter-house competition in high school.
Tobi represented Nigeria in African Youth Championship in 2013 and won the Diamond League in the 100m hurdles in Zurich in the year 2021.
Amusan entered the 2022 World Championships as a medal contender after back-to-back 4th place finishes. In the heats she ran a new personal best of 12.40s, bettering her old record by 0.01s. In the semi-final, she set a new world record of 12.12s. She bested her time once again in the final, running 12.06s wind assisted, so not recognized as a world record, becoming the first Nigerian to win a world title
