Tim Allen began his comedy career in 1975. On the advice of a friend, he went to a comic night at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, Michigan.
While in Detroit, he gained notoriety by starring in local television ads and on cable comedy series such as Gary Thison’s Some Semblance of Sanity. He returned to comedy after his release from jail in 1981. He relocated to Los Angeles and became a regular at The Comedy Store.
