Thubten Zopa Rinpoche (3 December 1946 – 13 April 2023) was a Gelug school Tibetan Buddhist lama. In Portland, Oregon, he founded the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition and Maitripa College.

However, Lama Zopa Rinpoche was born in 1946 in Thangme, Nepal. He was recognized early in life as the reincarnation of the Lawudo Lama Kunzang Yeshe of the same location (thus the moniker “Rinpoche”). Lama Zopa Rinpoche traveled to Tibet at the age of ten to study and meditate at Domo Geshe Rinpoche’s monastery in Pagri. In Tibet, he took his monk vows at Dungkar Monastery.
