Thriston Lawrence, a South African professional golfer who competes on both the European Tour and the Sunshine Tour, was born on 3 December 1996. In the postponed Joburg Open in 2021 due to bad weather, he won for the first time on the European Tour.
In 2021, Lawrence won the Joburg Open, which was the biggest triumph of his career. It was a Sunshine Tour and European Tour event that was jointly sanctioned. Due to bad weather, the event was reduced to 36 holes. Zander Lombard was defeated by Lawrence by four strokes after shooting two rounds of 65.

Lawrence began his career in 2014. In 2015 and 2016, he participated in the MENA Tour as well as the Challenge Tour. In 2015, he took home the MENA Tour Order of Merit. He earned his card for the Sunshine Tour’s 2019–20 season by participating in the Big Easy Tour in 2018.
At the Vodacom Origins of Golf in Stellenbosch in 2019, he claimed victory in his debut Sunshine Tour competition.
