A devastating head-on collision in North Carolina claimed the lives of three sisters just a day before one of their birthdays.

Viola Medlin Singletary, 74, Gloria Medlin McCrimmon, 72, and Cheryl Elaine Medlin, 63, were traveling on Highway 690 in Moore County when a 2023 Kia crossed the center line and collided with their vehicle, according to State Highway Patrol officials.

The silver 2010 Hyundai carrying the sisters was completely destroyed in the horrific crash, resulting in the fatalities of the sisters and the driver of the Kia. The youngest sister would have celebrated her 64th birthday the following day.

The lone survivor, Suzanne Beasley, a passenger in the Kia, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The collision occurred around 10:59 a.m. when the Kia, driven by an unidentified individual, reportedly was speeding around a bend and collided with the sisters’ vehicle, which Singletary was driving.

Family members revealed that the sisters were on their way to pick up a truck, making preparations for Medlin’s 63rd birthday celebration on the upcoming day. In honor of Medlin, the family plans to hold a balloon release.

Witness Wayne Davis, who happened to be on the road at the time of the crash, rushed to the scene to assist but tragically discovered his cousin, Beasley, involved in the fatal wreck.

Davis expressed his shock, saying he hadn’t seen his cousin in eight years and was devastated by the sight of her injured.

The impact of the collision was so severe that it tore the engines out of both vehicles and sent them spinning off the road.

The State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation, but preliminary findings suggest that speeding and reckless driving by the Kia driver were contributing factors in the crash.
