Due to the Queen’s departure on Thursday(September 8), this weekend’s Premier League games between Manchester United vs Leeds and Chelsea vs Liverpool will not be played.

The games were slated to start on Sunday at Old Trafford at 2 p.m. and at Stamford Bridge at 4.30 p.m. In order to ensure public safety during the 10-day period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, approximately over 15000 police officers will be deployed in London.

Two games have been moved, according to the Premier League. Both games will now be played on Sunday, with Everton playing West Ham at Goodison Park at 2:15 p.m. and Brentford hosting Arsenal at 12 p.m.

According to a statement from the Premier League, matches will resume this weekend following last week’s break in honor of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Three matches will not be played this weekend because of the events surrounding The Queen’s burial, leaving seven Premier League games to be played.

The statement went on to say: “There was no choice except to postpone the three matches after lengthy consultation with clubs, the police, and other relevant authorities.
