Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey found himself on the bench as Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Despite traveling with the team to Germany and being available for selection, Partey was not called upon by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
Instead, Arteta opted for a midfield trio of Jorgino, Declan Rice, and Martin Odegaard, leaving Partey as an unused substitute. The Gunners put up a good fight against Bayern Munich but were unable to break through their defense. A goal from Joshua Kimmich in the 63rd minute secured a 1-0 victory for Bayern Munich, sending them through to the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate win.
Despite the disappointment in the Champions League, Thomas Partey and his teammates will now focus on their Premier League campaign as they aim to compete for the title in the remaining games of the season.
The midfielder will be looking to make an impact and help Arsenal finish the season strong.
