Tactics and style
Brentford manager Thomas Frank started the season with a 4-3-3 formation, but by the end of the season, he had switched to a 3-4-1-2 formation with great success. Brentford’s strategy in both sets was based on creating central overloads before releasing the ball wide or forward for potential 1v1s. Frank’s players also seamlessly rotate positions. The 47-year-old Dane promotes freedom and prefers to see interchangeable movement throughout the pitch. This style of play is risky, and Brentford is occasionally caught with a high line. When moves fail, they are also prone to leaving gaps. Overall, their front-footed approach serves as an effective form of defence, according to the Premier League.
