The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of trying to portray Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as humble in the run-up to the elections.

In a recent statement, Mr. Gyamfi stated that NPP communicators are struggling to promote Dr. Bawumia’s campaign due to the perceived arrogance of Dr. Opoku Prempeh.

This controversy arose after Dr. Opoku Prempeh claimed during his unveiling ceremony that no president has developed Ghana like President Akufo-Addo. He even went as far as to suggest that even Dr. Kwame Nkrumah accomplished less than President Akufo-Addo.

These comments sparked a social media frenzy, with many demanding an apology from Dr. Opoku Prempeh. He did eventually apologize for his remarks, stating that he did not intend to disrespect Dr. Nkrumah or any former presidents.

Sammy Gyamfi, speaking on JoyNews Newsfile, criticized Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his arrogant behavior, claiming that his arrogance is evident to the public. He emphasized that the criticism of Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s comments came from various sectors, including journalists, chiefs, and historians, not just NDC members.

Mr. Gyamfi also questioned the NPP’s attempts to downplay Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s arrogance, citing past controversial statements made by the candidate. He challenged the NPP to address the issue of arrogance instead of trying to conceal it.
