Charles Antwi, the man who was arrested for an alleged assasination attempt on the life of the outgoing President, John Dramani Mahama in July 2015 has finally been freed.

Charles Antwi is a thrity seven-year-old man.

Charles was arrested at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church in Accra; the church where the President, his family and the Chief Justice, Georgina Woode worship.

Charles Antwi was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a circuit court in Accra presided over by Justice Francis Obiri for illegally possessing a gun.

Charles Antwi confessed in court for that he wanted to kill the President and that he was supposed to be sworn in a President after President Attah Mills died in 2012.

Although he has been in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations since August 2015, the judgement of ten years imprisonment was set aside after human rights lawyer Francis Xavier-Sosu appealed the judgement.
