Buem Member of Parliament, Kofi Adams, has expressed his belief that there is no need for the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer to participate in a debate with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer. Adams argues that Bawumia would only end up embarrassing himself as both he and President Akufo-Addo have failed to deliver on their promises to the people.
During an appearance on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Adams stated that despite Bawumia’s claims of being an economic messiah and the head of the economic management team, the current economic conditions indicate otherwise. Adams emphasized that there is no necessity for a debate and that Mahama has already proven his capability in managing the country’s affairs with a clear track record.
However, Adams mentioned that if the NDC flagbearer decides to engage in a debate, the party would provide its support. His comments come in the midst of increasing calls from the Bawumia camp for a debate between the two leading presidential candidates in the upcoming elections.
The importance of the upcoming elections and the potential impact of a debate between the two candidates are topics of discussion among political circles in Ghana. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
