Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has made it clear that their main focus is on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

This statement comes after Addo announced the 26-man squad for the upcoming matches against Mali and Central African Republic.

The Black Stars currently sit in 4th place in Group I with just three points. They managed to secure a hard-fought victory against Madagascar but suffered a shocking defeat against Cormoros in their first two games.

Despite the challenging start to the qualifying campaign, Addo remains optimistic about Ghana’s chances. “Surely, we want to qualify for the World Cup, and that is the aim,” he stated during a press conference at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) headquarters. “It is difficult with our current position, but in the end, we want to qualify,” he added.

Ghana will face Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on June 6 before returning home to host Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on June 10. The upcoming matches will be crucial for the Black Stars as they look to bounce back from their early setback and keep their World Cup dreams alive.
