The proposed sale of a plot of property designated for a road in the Greater Accra region is being opposed by the Landlords Association and the people living in Amrahia, which is in the Adentan constituency.
They claim that someone has purchased the land and intends to develop it. On The People’s Forum, a feature of Adom FM’s morning broadcast, Dwaso Nsem Thursday, the residents disclosed this.
They expressed worry that if a building is built on the road, it will be impossible for the locals to get to their homes because the road will be closed.
A few Landlord’s Association leaders made a plea to the government to step in and support them in this situation.
They claim to have contacted the district office, but it has rejected their request for a permit to build on the property.
“It’s the only road leading to the area. We won’t sit back and allow this to happen. We attended the Assembly meeting, where the lands supervisor informed us that he refused to grant a permit to the individual interested in purchasing the land” they started.
If the problem is not fixed, Amrahia residents have pledged to take matters into their own hands.
“We are requesting that the government enforce the nation’s laws. He can’t intimidate us with the money. They said, “We also have the men who would face him.”
