Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene recently shared his thoughts on the state of equity in the music industry, suggesting that it may not be as rosy as some believe.
In a social media post, Eugene expressed his views on how some artists are willing to go to great lengths, both good and bad, to achieve success in the industry.
“The music industry no be how the fans dey see am. It’s a bloody game now. People will do anything, pull any string for validation. Ay3 tan!!!!!” he wrote on X.
This statement from Eugene came shortly after the conclusion of the 25th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, where he walked away with two awards – Best Highlife Artiste and Best Music Video of the Year.
While Eugene did not specify the inspiration behind his comments, some online users speculate that it may have been provoked by Stonebwoy’s win as Artiste of the Year at the event.
The TGMA, which took place at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on June 1, 2024, aimed to recognize and celebrate the achievements of musicians over the past year.
