TGMA: I have no interest in challenging board for particular nominations – Perez Musik

Award-winning Gospel singer, Perez Musik, has chosen not to contest or challenge the Ghana Music Awards board over nominations for specific categories.
In a recent interview, Perez expressed his lack of interest in demanding a review for nominations, unlike some other artists who feel deserving.

According to the ‘Blema Tesa’ hit maker, his focus as a gospel singer is on winning and transforming souls rather than solely seeking awards and accolades.

During an interview with Cookie Tee on TV3’s New Day, Perez emphasized that the board’s decision to nominate an artist for a particular category is solely their prerogative, and he respects that. “I did my submission, and if they feel I deserve it or not, it’s up to them. There’s no need for me to challenge my nominations,” he stated on April 19.

Perez, who is currently nominated in three categories for this year’s Ghana Music Awards, including Best Male Vocal Performance, Songwriter of the Year, and Gospel Artiste of the Year, remains unfazed about not getting nominated in all the categories he applied for. “Yes, there are categories that you feel you should be there, but if they sit down and realize that you only deserve two nominations, [I won’t contest at all],” he added.

His stance on nominations comes in the wake of a recent incident involving Amerado and the TGMA board. Amerado had petitioned the board to consider nominating the original version of his song ‘Kweku Ananse’ for the Most Popular Song of the Year category. After some controversy, the TGMA board eventually included the song in the category.
