Tension in New Juaben as attempt to remove black stool fails

In the New Juaben Traditional Area, tension is rising within the Adwampong royal family as an attempt to remove the black stool from the queen mother’s room fails.

The stool is an essential part of the enstoolment ceremony that will be held at Yiadom Hwedie Palace on Thursday, February 1st, under the direction of Daasebere Kwaku Boateng III, to elect a new chief for the family.

Three people, Yaw Buatey, Kwaku Beng, and Kofi Anim, were escorted to the stool room by uniformed, armed policemen from the New Juaben Police Divisional Command in an attempt to steal the black stool.

The Adwampong royal family’s queen mother, Nana Akosua Afrakoma, claims that on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the three people were unable to enter the stool room because of the gate’s resistance.

The attempt to remove the black stool, according to Nana Akosua Afrakoma, was a planned move by the traditional council to install a new chief. She further stated that this was an attempt to sideline her using an unconventional method.

“This morning, I received a call stating that they attempted to take the stool yesterday, Wednesday, but were resisted. As a result, they brought the police to break down my door this morning.”

“I haven’t ruled with any of them in the last 29 years, so that’s my path. Regarding the enstoolment they are doing, I have no knowledge. Since they illegally stripped me of my tools, I no longer visit the palace.
