Tema industrial area: Scores rendered homeless in Tema fire

The Tema area of Ayigbetown saw the destruction of over 52 homes, leaving many residents without a place to live.

A young man tried to connect a gas regulator next to an open flame on Sunday night, setting off a wooden building that caught fire. This is how the fire started.

Reporters from the scene described the horrific event and related their terrifying experiences to Joy News.

Ebenezer Yenzu, the Public Relations Officer for the Fire Service in the Tema zone, verified the incident and advised locals to handle gas cylinders safely.

Ebi Bright, the NDC’s Tema Central parliamentary candidate, condemned the government for failing to address the affected citizens’ housing requirements, underlining the vulnerability of those living in makeshift shelters in that portion of the city.

This terrible tragedy emphasizes the significance of following safety requirements, and community leaders are appealing for more help to assist displaced individuals in rebuilding their lives.
