Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was reportedly arrested in the Dominican Republic as he attempted to leave the island on his private jet.
The arrest followed an incident at a music studio where Tekashi 6ix9ine and some of his associates were involved in a confrontation with producers.
Surveillance footage shows the rapper and a group of men approaching the studio, and subsequent videos indicate that a fight took place, resulting in injuries to the producers.
According to claims online, the altercation was triggered by perceived disrespect towards Tekashi 6ix9ine’s girlfriend by the producers.
A criminal lawyer in the Dominican Republic, Felix Portes, shared on Instagram that the rapper was trying to leave the country after the fight but was swiftly taken into custody by Dominican Republic authorities.
Two men injured during the altercation are expected to recover in the coming weeks.
Tekashi 6ix9ine has been embroiled in a feud with Puerto Rican rapper Annuel AA, which has led to threats and warnings from authorities. He had been visiting the Dominican Republic in recent weeks.
