American real estate developer and managing principal owner of the Washington Nationals baseball franchise, Theodore N. Lerner was born on October 15, 1925, and passed away on February 12, 2023.
In addition to owning commercial, retail, residential, and hotel buildings, he was the creator of Lerner Enterprises, the biggest private landowner in the Washington metropolitan region, which also owns Chelsea Piers in New York City.
He was Maryland’s richest person in 2015, according to Forbes magazine. The Nationals, who were among baseball’s weakest teams in their first several seasons in Washington under the Lerners’ ownership, won the World Series in 2019.
