Taylor Townsend, an American tennis player, was born on April 16, 1996. She achieved career-best WTA singles and doubles rankings in July 2018 at world No. 61 and No. 6, respectively. Along with Caty McNally, she advanced to the doubles finals of the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Miami Open.
She became the first American to win the ITF Junior World Championship since 1982 in 2012 after ending the year atop the girls’ rankings. She won three of the four junior Grand Slam doubles championships in that year, as well as the junior Australian Open singles and doubles crowns.

Townsend relocated to Boca Raton, Florida, at the age of 14 to join the USTA development program.
When the USTA refused to reimburse Townsend’s expenditures for the 2012 US Open, Murray and XS Tennis arranged a fundraiser to cover over $1000 of the trip’s cost. Following that, Townsend divided her time working with Murray in Chicago and Zina Garrison in Washington, D.C. Donald Young Sr. has been her coach again since 2015. Townsend strives to emulate her tennis idol, Martina Navratilova.
