On August 23, 1993, Taylor Decker—an offensive tackle for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League—was born. He participated in collegiate football at Ohio State.

Decker attended Butler High School in Vandalia, Ohio. For three years, he started as a left tackle for the football squad. He was rated four stars by Rivals.com and ranked as the class’s 23rd-best offensive lineman.

He initially committed to play college football for the University of Notre Dame, but later changed his mind and chose Ohio State. In addition to playing football in high school, Decker also played basketball.

In the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Decker was taken by the Detroit Lions with the 16th overall pick.

As of May 6, 2016, Decker’s four-year, $10.96 million deal with the Detroit Lions was fully guaranteed and had a $6.17 million signing bonus. With the exception of quarterback Matthew Stafford, Decker played every offensive snap for the Lions in his rookie season, starting all 16 games at left tackle.

Decker was chosen as the 2016 Lions Rookie of the Year by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association.
