Tatjana Patitz, the original supermodel who was the most reserved and possibly the most passionate, has passed away at the age of 56.

After collaborating with renowned photographer Peter Lindbergh, the legendary German supermodel achieved popularity in the late 1980s. But the iconic black-and-white British Vogue cover for January 1990 is what made her famous.

Patitz appeared in numerous glitzy publications as a model, including six times on the cover of Vogue, and she walked a great deal of runways.

Over the years, she collaborated with numerous designers, including Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Donna Karan, and Donna Joplin. In 2019, the supermodel participated in her last Milan Design Week runway appearance with Etro for the presentation of the fashion house’s Autumn/Winter 2019/20 collection.

In her eulogy for the model, Anna Wintour, chief content officer of Condé Nast and head of the global editorial department of Vogue, spoke to Patitz’s distinctive beauty.

Cause of death

According to a family representative, metastatic breast cancer was the reason of death.

When people ask what I do for fun, I tell 'em, “I write.”
