Tatjana Maria had never advanced past the third round of a grand slam tournament in 34 attempts prior to this year’s Wimbledon. She booked her place in the next phase of the competition after cruising past her own countrywoman Jule Niemeier.
It’s no surprise, that she admitted to having goosebumps all over as she basked in the applause of Court No. 1, the site of her battling victory on Tuesday.
But, as she prepares for her semifinal match against Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur, Maria is unlikely to change her daily routines juggling tennis and motherhood.
(I’m in the Wimbledon semifinals, which is crazy, but I’m still a mom, and after this, I’ll go out there and see my kids and do what I do every single day,) she told the press.
(I’ll change Pampers and carry on as usual. I try to keep (things) as normal as possible. Being a mother is what makes me the proudest.) she added.
