Tariq has followed in the footsteps of Inaki Williams, the Spaniard footballer who switched to play for Ghana yesterday. The defender for Brighton and Hove Albion has switched his international allegiance from England to Ghana.
After representing England at the youth level, Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey has decided to play international football for Ghana.
The London-born right-back previously represented the Three Lions from Under 18 to U21 level but has now switched allegiance to the Black Stars, for whom he qualifies through his parents.
The 21-year-old Hillingdon- based footballer, who has been linked with Tottenham and Arsenal in recent months, has just finished a solid season with the Seagulls after they finished in the top half of the Premier League, and his presence will be critical for the team ahead of the World Cup in Qatar next year.
Ghana is said to have also lured Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu and Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams, in addition to Lamptey.
