Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed concern about the actions of African governments targeting businesses owned by their political opponents.
Speaking at the 2nd edition of the Afro-heritage Conference and Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, Mr. Mahama highlighted the detrimental impact of governments destroying businesses created by their political rivals.
He emphasized the need for African governments to support and uplift local business owners, rather than stifling their growth out of political vendettas. “We must not be afraid for our business people to succeed, we must not be afraid to have rich Africans,” he stated during a panel discussion at the conference.
Mr. Mahama called on African leaders to prioritize investment in young people and foster an environment where innovations can benefit ordinary citizens. He pointed out that adversity presents opportunities for growth and urged governments to believe in the potential of their own people.
