Suleman Yakubu Tikumah, a member of CLOGSAG who serves as the Tamale Regional Coordinating Council’s Regional Environmental Health Officer, was assaulted. As a result, members of CLOGSAG in the Northern Region are about to go on strike.
Members of CLOGSAG are outraged by their accusations that Sule Salifu, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, assaulted one of their members.
The MCE was reportedly asked to write an apology and pay for any damages after the Regional Minister allegedly interfered.
However, the MCE has not succeeded in doing so, which CLOGSAG claimed is proof that the Tamale MCE has not felt regret for his acts.
In light of this, CLOGSAG has recommended that its members, for their own safety, go on a sit-down strike.
All Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and Northern Regional Coordinating Council members of CLOGSAG are asked to remain at home till further notice starting on Monday, February 19, 2024.
The sit-down strike is a form of protest against the attack and the MCE’s disregard for the commitments made to deal with the problem. Members of CLOGSAG seek accountability and justice for their colleague’s attack.
