Taiki Yanagida, sometimes known as “Tiger” was a jockey. He died days after collapsing and being trampled during a race in New Zealand.

Taiki was just 28. Yanagida, who dropped his helmet, was first rolled over by his own horse before being trampled by a second horse that was trailing closely behind. The jockey was sent to the Waikato Hospital and put into an induced coma after suffering severe head and spinal injuries.

Since making his breakthrough in jockeying, he has been linked with several high-profile names but did not confirm his relationship with any.

His mother, Kayano, was initially opposed to the idea of him being a jockey. However, she supported him after he showed signs of promise during his time in New Zealand.

She was flown by the New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing from Japan to the hospital Taiki was admitted.
