Syngenta, a global leader in agricultural innovation, has partnered with Overseas Warehouse (GH) Ltd., a subsidiary of African Tiger Holding Ltd., to introduce Pergado Ultra, a copper-free fungicide specifically designed to target Cocoa Black Pod disease.

This new product is tailored to suit West African farming conditions, especially during the rainy seasons with torrential rains.

Pergado Ultra is a result of years of research and technological expertise, aimed at addressing the challenges faced by Cocoa Farmers in West Africa. The fungicide offers a powerful tool to enhance productivity while minimizing ecological impact, showcasing Syngenta’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Some key features and benefits of Pergado Ultra include its eco-friendly profile with minimal environmental footprint, double rainproof properties, and best-in-class protection against Cocoa Black Pod disease. The fungicide is rainfast within an hour and its LOK&FLO technology ensures it is not easily washed off by rains after application.

Issakha Camara, West & Central Africa Head at Syngenta, stated, “Pergado Ultra represents a milestone in agricultural innovation. We are excited to introduce this game-changing solution to Ghanaian cocoa farmers, empowering them to overcome the challenges of black pod disease and achieve greater cocoa productivity in a sustainable way.”

This new innovation comes over two decades after Syngenta introduced its Ridomil Gold Plus fungicide in the Ghanaian and West African cocoa industry for black pod control, maintaining Syngenta’s position as the leading black pod control company in the subregion.

Syngenta, a leading agriculture company, aims to improve the sustainability, quality, and safety of agriculture with innovative crop solutions. Through partnerships and collaborations, Syngenta is committed to accelerating innovation for farmers and nature, striving for regenerative agriculture and helping people stay safe and healthy.

Overseas Warehouse Ghana Limited (OWL), a subsidiary of African Tiger Holding Limited, is an agrochemical distribution and warehousing company based in Accra, focusing on novel active ingredients in the cereal and cocoa industries in Ghana.
