Story of defiled 4-year-old girl sparks social media outrage

The story of a 4-year-old girl who was allegedly
defiled by a community member at Assin Adadientem in the Central Region has
sparked an intensifying social media outrage. According to the story which was
carried by Myjoyonline, the mother of
the victim is calling for justice after the chief of the community told her
that the suspect has been declared innocent by the community gods, and
therefore action cannot be taken against the suspect.

Since the publication of the story, there has been
an increasing outrage on social media in reaction to the story. On Twitter, the hashtag #DOSOMETHING has
been coined to facilitate the agitations on the platform. Leading the crusade
is award winning broadcaster and global advocate for girls’ education, Anita
Erskine. She has tweeted to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo in her attempt to draw his attention to the matter. Below is a sample of her tweets in that regard:

The said story has also generated gross furiousness
on Facebook. Human Rights Lawyer, Francis-Xavier Sosu, as part of many others,
has described the act as unacceptable on his wall. Below is his view on the
