The anguish and misery that the family experienced are depicted in Steven Stayner’s account. A seven-year-old was kidnapped in Mendocino County, 200 miles distant, in 1972.
The youngster eventually earned credit for his bravery in escaping his kidnappers with Timothy White, another victim. His relatives, who had given up hope, leaped for delight and started crying.
The family’s suffering didn’t stop there, though. Steven and his parents were featured in the “Captive Audience: A Real American Horror Story” series on Hulu.

Kay Stayner and Delbert Stayner, Steven’s parents, gave birth to him. He was kidnapped when he was 7 years old and taken away from his family.
He later freed himself and was reunited with his parents after being kidnapped for almost seven years.
Among addition to Steven, Kay and Delbert had three daughters and a son in their other four children. Once again, the couple was in trouble when their firstborn turned into a serial killer.
When a young kid, age 7, returned home after escaping, the Stayner family’s story quickly won the hearts of the populace. However, an accident cost the pair his life once more in 1989.
