Steven Thomas “Steve” Weatherford, a former punter for American football, was born on December 17, 1982. Prior to being signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2006, he played collegiate football for Illinois. Weatherford has experience with the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Giants. He defeated the New England Patriots while playing for the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI.
After arriving at the University of Illinois in 2001, Weatherford redshirted his first season. He was designated the starter in 2002 after averaging 39.7 yards on 23 punts. He also participated in track events for the men’s team.
Weatherford has worked as a fill-in sportscaster for SI Now, NFL AM, ESPN SportsNation, and Good Day New York since graduating from the eighth annual NFL Broadcast Boot Camp in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, in June 2013. Weatherford hosted a weekly Monday night radio broadcast on WFAN for the entire 2013 campaign.
