The most expensive locations to buy Kenkey are in the Accra Metropolis, including Spintex, Dzorwulu, Circle, and other areas.
One can purchase less expensive Kenkey in locations like Teshie, La, and Osu. Weija, Cantonments, Sakumono, and Odorkor are additional locations where reasonably priced kenkey can be obtained.
In an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Citi TV, Kobina Aidoo, the creator of the Kenkey Index, questioned whether the high cost of kenkey in the Nsawam road area was caused by the presence of immigrant settlements.
“The most costly locations for Kenkey are North Kaneshie, Dzorwulu, Dome, Ofankor, Achimota, and Lapaz. Dzorwulu has proven to be a reliable and costly product. The creator of the Kenkey Index stated, “We want to investigate further to find out what is going on and whether or not there are immigrants there.”
He pointed out that not all kenkey is made equal and mentioned that the coastal regions had the cheapest kenkey. Circle, Makola, Ofankor, Dome, Achimota, Dzorwulu, Tesano, and North Kaneshie are the priciest locations to buy kenkeys.
Haatso, Madina, Sakumono, Nungua, Cantonments, Labone, Odorkor, Awoshie, and Weija are some reasonably priced places to purchase kenkey.
Kenkey can be purchased for less money in Osu, La, Mamprobi, Laterbiokorshie, Ablekuma, Kaneshie, and Teshie.
Kenkey, also known as “komi” to the Fantes, is an indigenous Ga dish that is eaten with fish, sardines, canned beef, shrimp, and other ingredients.
