Premier League side Southampton FC are reportedly in talks to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante as a potential replacement for Che Adams, who is heading to Torino, according to sources.
The 25-year-old Thomas-Asante has been a standout performer for West Brom since joining from Salford in 2022, finishing as the club’s top scorer for the past two seasons.
Southampton’s interest in the striker comes as Adams prepares to make a move to Serie A side Torino. Adams, a Scotland international, played a major role in Southampton’s promotion back to the Premier League, featuring in 46 games last season out of a total of 191 games for the club.
With Thomas-Asante’s contract set to expire next summer, West Brom have the opportunity to cash in on him during this transfer window. Despite his lack of Premier League experience, Thomas-Asante has proven himself as a prolific goal scorer across various divisions, showcasing his versatility by playing in multiple attacking positions.
If the deal goes through, Thomas-Asante will be under pressure to help Southampton improve their goal-scoring record, which was a major issue during their 2022-23 Premier League campaign that ultimately led to their relegation.
Notably, Thomas-Asante made his debut for the Ghana national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic, a match that Ghana won 4-3. In the English Championship last season, he netted an impressive tally of 11 goals.
