According to an online record from the Fayette County Detention Center, Sophia Rosing, a white 22-year-old woman, was detained by police just before 4 a.m. at a campus dorm on suspicion of public intoxication, third-degree assault on a police officer, fourth-degree assault, and second-degree disorderly conduct. She is being held on a $10,000 bond.
In a video of the incident that went viral on social media on Sunday, Rosing is heard yelling a racial epithet as she slaps a lady who works at a hostel front desk.
Rosing, who is shown in the video struggling to maintain her balance and appears to be visibly intoxicated, is being restrained by the student.
According to university president Eli Capilouto’s communication to students on Sunday, the victim, who was working a midnight shift in Boyd Hall, says, “Could you stop?” What I dealt with at work is the title of the video.
“Nope,” replies Rosing. The victim responds, “I do not get paid enough for this,” as Rosing uses a racial epithet at her.
Someone recording the assault comments, “I got this all on camera.”
